Apple and the music industry are all in a flutter about the slowing of iPod sales. While the two were at odds for a long time over Steve Jobs telling them how much to sell music for, they are both a bit concerned that iPod sales are starting to slow taking digital sales of music with them. Tomorrow's Apple press conference has a logo of an acoustic guitar with a sound hole in the shape of the Apple logo and September is the traditional time to do something new with the….

Over the next three years, BMG Rights Management will be receiving equity injections of €200 million ($254 million) from each of its shareholders - investment group KKR and media group Bertelsmann - to be used for further acquisitions. It means the company has at least €400 million ($508 million) to spend - and perhaps even more than that. In addition, the shareholders plan to provide BMG Rights Management with debt capital of €400 million ($508 million). KKR has 51% and Bertelsmann has 49% of BMG Rights Management. The company's….

Young Money CEO Cortez Bryant has explained why he believes Drake's highly-anticipated Thank Me Later debut album was unable to sell over a million copies its first-week in stores last June. From Bryant's perspective, Drizzy lacked a solid hit single to help push record-breaking sales."The first week was great but [Drake] still need that big smash pop hit like we had with [Lil] Wayne's 'Lollipop,'" Bryant said in an interview. "Wayne got his million because he had that urban side and he crossed over to that pop demographic. I believe Drake would've got those million sales if we would've had that pop record. I don't think 'Fancy' is that pop record either…It'll go so far, but when we drop 'Show Me A Good Time' in September — that has the potential to be that big record."….

Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has fired back at reports he is using backing tracks on the road. The allegations were aimed at the rocker after he tumbled off the stage during a show in Ohio last week and appeared to keep singing. Fans at the concert were stunned when Weiland continued singing seconds later without sounding flustered or breathless. But the singer insists he's just professional. At a concert in…..

Tickets never went on sale and promotions were never staged, but a planned headlining concert by electronic artist TiĆ«sto is the center of a seven-figure civil suit filed against the city of Los Angeles on Friday. Local dance promoter Insomniac Inc. claims the city breached its contract when it canceled what would have been an Oct. 30 concert by the well-known trance artist in the West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center. On Monday, the mayor's office referred requests for comments to the convention center, and a spokeswoman for the facility said no statement or comment would be forthcoming. In its filing,….

We don't know exactly what to call the online collaboration between Arcade Fire and Google that launched Monday morning, but it sure is neat. This "Chrome Experience," as Google calls it, unfolds in multiple browser windows to the tune of Arcade Fire's "We Used To Wait," incorporating a viewer's childhood address and allowing the viewer to write a letter to their younger selves using a nice, spidery font. If music videos were invented for the web, rather than for television, they might look something like this….
